Writing songs is an enjoyable and creative way to express yourself. With this course, I will help you discover the underlying principles of song composition and guitar playing.
Looking at how to set words to a rhythm, you’ll examine what an effective melody looks like, and how to structure it. These techniques can help you write future songs on your own, to perform live or to chill at home with the guitar. 
The focus will be on developing guitar skills and music theory and often I will be using the piano to explain how to construct chords.

The course will be split into various aspects of understanding the instrument and the music that can be created with it. Students will be led through a routine of tuning their ukuleles, warming-up, practicing and playing.
Students will be able to apply tuning techniques using the relationships between the strings, note intervals, and chords as well as developing finger dexterity and strumming abilities in order to begin making music. 
Students will perform exercises such as playing through scales, chord charts, strumming patterns and rhythms and they will practice these rhythms. Students will be able to read basic music for the ukulele and will play through simple solo songs and will do so while staying on the beat and in the time signature.
