Matchspace Music has put a lot of work and time into this pricing policy. It is of utmost importance to us that all music teachers in Switzerland can make a living and are properly compensated. We are also convinced that music students are looking for flexibility and appreciate attractive offerings. To accommodate this, we built our platform in such a way that different prices can be set for various teaching formats (e.g. home visits vs in your own studio).
Our pricing policy is based on a variety of reference sources but mainly on the recommendations of SMPV. This pricing policy is mandatory for all teachers. Matchspace Music reserves the right to adjust the pricing policy regularly to the latest market conditions.
Matchspace Music has put a lot of work To allow teachers in formation to gain their first teaching experiences, a separate category and price model has been created in cooperation with representatives of Swiss music colleges. The prices ensure that teachers in education are able to compete with prices of public music schools and at the same time earn some extra money while studying. Teachers in formation need to be clearly identifiable for students in their profile description in the section „education“.
In order to simplify the pricing process and to make it easier for teachers, Matchspace Music has built a price calculator into the course creation process. This calculator automatically generates all prices for the various lesson durations and subscription models, based on the initial hourly rate defined by the teacher.
Matchspace Music personally verifies all teachers for their qualifications and education before activating them on the platform. In case of doubt, work samples and diplomas may be requested before the registration process is completed.
Matchspace Music classifies teachers into four categories, depending on their education and experience. The classification is done by verifiying the academic qualifications and certificates. Teachers that wish to teach without a formal education will be assessed individually and must also adhere to the pricing policy. All teachers published on Matchspace Music are verified by a professional music teacher. In case of doubt, work samples will be requested.

The prices for the individual lesson durations and subscriptions are automatically calculated during the course creation process. To give maximum flexibility to our teachers, individual prices can be applied to each course (e.g. for kids or adults, in the studio or online). Those prices also need to be based on our pricing policy. Prices for longer lessons (e.g. 90min) are slightly lower per minute than shorter lessons (e.g. 30min) to take administrative work of the teachers into consideration.

Subscription package
We offer three different subscriptions. Subscriptions for five, ten, or twenty lessons are available to music students. The discount for 10 or 20 lessons is automated in the price calculator and is intended to offer returning music students an incentive to commit to the teacher in the long term and benefit from discounts. The discounts are based on the SMPV guidelines for semester fees. The first lesson of the subscription is a trial lesson with a satisfaction guarantee. If the first lesson is not satisfactory, we will look for an alternative teacher or refund the full price of the subscription.

If the first lesson was not satisfactory, we will look for a new teacher or refund the subscription. Otherwise, this lesson will count as the first lesson of the purchased subscription.
The discount is calculated on the total price of the purchased subscription regardless of the lesson duration (30, 45, 60 or 90min).
The prices listed below are to be understood as lower limits and apply to a 60-minute lesson in the respective canton. Teachers can set individual prices per course (e.g. piano lessons for children). The 20% discount for children's lessons is voluntary and can be determined by the teacher. Travel expenses for home visits or other expenses can be charged additionally and are exempt from the Matchspace Music service fee. The guide values listed below refer to the final prices for students and include the Matchspace Music service fee. The guide values also apply to cross-border commuters or teachers who teach Swiss students "live online" from abroad.
