A message from the founder
Imagine that 70% of the people would love to play a musical instrument but don’t. We want to make music more accessible to everyone! Watch this short video from our founder Patrick how we make music lessons available to everyone.
Our history
Matchspace Music was founded in 2019 when Patrick was on his way home from work, wanted to take cello lessons, and realized it was difficult to find what he was looking for. He spoke with busy adults who wanted to take music lessons, with parents looking for private music teachers for their children, and with many musicians and instructors seeking more flexibility and an additional income. This is how the idea for building a digital ecosystem to meet these needs was born. Since then, Patrick has never looked back and started developing a platform that brings people together to share and develop their talents and to make a difference in the world of personal development. The website and app were created in the summer of 2020, and the first music teachers registered on the platform in 2021. In 2021, Oli joined the team to support Patrick in realizing his plans. Soon after, Matchspace Music had hundreds of instructors and students and a wide selection of instruments. In 2025, the magic threshold of 2,000 private music teachers was reached. This makes Matchspace Music the largest and most versatile platform for private music tuition in Switzerland. In the summer of 2025, Matchspace Music introduced new marketing solutions for music schools and brought the first public music school, Musikschule Zürcher Oberland, onto the platform.
