My name is Daniela Schumacher and I am from Bern and my profession is musician, singer, pianist and conductor. I am self-employed. In my work as a music teacher I am fascinated by the fact that I get into conversation with people. My mother tongue is music, that's where I feel at home.
My dream job as a child was always to work as a music teacher, that's what I always wanted! I started playing music when I was four years old, and before I could read, I learned to read music. When you can read music, it's like a treasure chest. You find so many things there and I find that extremely exciting.
I started teaching when I was 18 and I've always loved teaching. It's my passion. The most important thing about music teaching for me is that people feel comfortable. That is the most important thing to me. I teach, but I am open to the path that my students take. You can't go into class with specific expectations and a goal, you have to be open to what happens. Most students don't have a clear idea of what they want to sing. They want to see what singing is all about.
Music lessons of the future have to be flexible and creative. You have to love people, that's the most important thing in teaching. I am happy that I have my own music school, that I can live my passion as a pianist, as a singer and as a conductor. I am very satisfied and grateful that I have made it and that I have been able to overcome many challenges in the past. I just believed in myself and realized that this is mine and this is me, and this suits me well and that I have the passion for teaching.
