The Cello is more than an instrument—it is a voice that speaks directly to the human heart. With its deep, sonorous tones and remarkable versatility, the Cello bridges the worlds of Classical refinement, Folk authenticity, and Baroque elegance.

In these lessons, we will discover the Cello’s unique identities:

Classical Cello, noble and expressive, carrying the weight of symphonies and concertos while offering intimate lyricism in chamber music.

Folk Cello, earthy and vibrant, where the instrument becomes a storyteller of traditions—Greek dances, Balkan rhythms, and melodies from Thrace, Asia Minor, and beyond.

Baroque Cello, historically informed and richly ornamented, reviving the spirit of early music with improvisation and stylistic nuance.

Our journey will include not only technique and repertoire but also improvisation, allowing you to explore the Cello’s expressive depth beyond written notes. Singing will accompany our exploration, helping you internalize idioms and ornaments so that the Cello becomes an extension of your voice.

Every student is unique, and I adapt the teaching process to reflect your personality and goals. Are you searching for a sound that speaks directly to the heart? The Lyra, with its nostalgic sweetness and timeless resonance, is more than just an instrument—it is a bridge between worlds.

In these classes, we explore two extraordinary traditions:

The Cretan Lyra, with its fiery rhythms and earthy vibrancy, born from the rugged landscapes of Crete. Its melodies carry the pulse of village dances and the raw emotion of island life, inviting you into a living heritage of passion and resilience.

The Politiki Lyra, refined and contemplative, shaped by the cosmopolitan spirit of Constantinople. Its voice is delicate yet profound, echoing centuries of Ottoman classical music and the subtle ornamentation of Byzantine and Middle Eastern traditions.

Together, these instruments open doors to a vast repertoire: Ottoman Classical Music, Greek Traditional and Middle Eastern idioms, as well as World Music. Improvisation—known as taxim—is woven into our journey, allowing each student to find their own expressive path.

My approach embraces not only instrumental technique but also the art of singing. By learning to vocalize the idioms and ornaments of folk music, you will embody its spirit more fully. Each lesson is a dialogue, tailored to your personality, ensuring that your unique voice resonates through the Lyra.

More than strings and wood, the Lyre is a symbol of harmony, philosophy, and poetry, once played to accompany the verses of Homer and the hymns of the gods. Its sound is luminous and pure, carrying with it the timeless resonance of antiquity.

In these classes, we will discover the Lyre’s unique qualities:

A voice of history, connecting us directly to the cultural heart of Ancient Greece, where music was inseparable from daily life, ritual, and storytelling.

A bridge across eras, as we explore how its ethereal tones can dialogue with Medieval, Baroque, Classical, and even Contemporary repertoires.

An instrument of improvisation, inviting you to create your own melos—just as ancient musicians did—through free exploration and ornamentation.

Rooted in Greek traditional music, where its earthy tones echo folk dances and heartfelt songs.
